THE NEW "PRADEL BEAR" in Molveno by MARCO MARTALAR
After the brand new Drago Vaia Regeneration of Lavarone, in the Alpe Cimbra (province of Trento), the Lupa del Lagorai, the Aquila Vaia (near Grigno) and the Grifone Vaia del Tesino, here is another incredible work by the artist, this time on the Altopiano di Pradel in Molveno in Trentino. Like the other works by Marco Martalar, the Orso del Pradel was also built with the wood of the trees felled by the Vaia storm that destroyed a large part of the forests of Trentino and Veneto on the night of 29 October 2018. With 2000 pieces of larch roots collected, Martalar creates a giant bear 6 meters high and 8 meters long. Be careful though because the work will not last forever, the wood used, in fact, has not been treated and for this reason it is destined to disappear. The Bear recalls the delicate balance of the coexistence of man and bear.

HOW TO GET to the PRADEL BEAR
You can get to the Pradel Bear by Car, reaching Molveno (by cable car) or Andalo (on foot). The work is located on the Pradel Plateau, along the 340bis path, a few meters from the arrival of the "Pradel - Palon di Trove". To reach the place, just take the cable car that leaves from Molveno and goes up to Pradel, then from there you change and take the chair lift to Palon di Trove. Once you arrive, just follow the signs with the Bear's footprints and go past the Rifugio la Montanara.
The Bear is located in a super panoramic position and as a backdrop the spectacular peaks of the Brenta Dolomites. If you want a simple but rewarding walk during your holiday in Andalo, you can start directly from the village and walk up to Pradel. A path in the woods gradually climbs from the Sports Center to the plateau, and is also suitable for strollers, with a route that lasts about an hour.

WHEN TO GO SEE the PRADEL BEAR
There is no best time to see the Vaia Bear of the Pradel Plateau! It is a wonderful work in every season, like all the works of Marco Martalar. In Summer and Spring the Vaia Bear dominates the green meadows of the Pradel Plateau. In Autumn the landscape presents truly magical colors and perfect for photographs. In Winter, however, the magic of the snow that whitens the landscape around the Bear makes everything even more suggestive.

WHO IS MARCO MARTALAR?
The Vaia Bear of the Pradel Plateau is not the first work of this kind created by the hands of the artist Marco Martalar. In 2020, in Mezzaselva di Roana on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, where he lives, Marco created a Winged Lion with 1500 pieces of shrubs and trees felled by Vaia, which became the largest Winged Lion in the world, three meters high and 4.5 long. Immediately after, the artist achieved incredible success thanks to the Vaia Dragon, in Lavarone, "a majestic work, a symbol of resilience and courage". Then came the Lagorai Wolf inaugurated in 2022, the Vaia Eagle, inaugurated in 2023, the Vaia Griffin of Tesino, inaugurated in 2024, and the brand new Vaia Regenation Dragon, inaugurated in 2024.

The Pradel Bear is easy to reach even with children and there are many other activities on the Pradel Plateau to do:
Sul sentiero di Sciury - The path of Sciury, the most beloved squirrel in Andalo, is a 2.5 km educational path perfect for children. Immersed in the woods, children can discover Sciury's dens, follow his footsteps, play with interactive installations and learn about life in the woods. The main attraction is a large wooden statue of Sciury, where children can climb safely.
La Fattoria Didattica del Pradel - Pradel Educational Farm - At Malga Tovre, children can learn how to take care of animals, take part in educational workshops and go for walks with donkeys. In addition, a snack with fresh mountain hut products enriches the experience.

You should take advantage of the opportunity to see this new work of art, because being made of untreated wood, the Bear will change over time, with the passing of the seasons, until it decomposes, following the philosophy of all Land Art.
