Palma de Mallorca
The capital of the island. Getting lost in the alleys of the old town of Palma and discovering the beautiful inner courtyards of the old stately homes is one of the best things to do in Mallorca. The imposing cathedral, castles, palaces, beaches where you can relax and pastry shops where you can buy the famous ensaimada. All this and much more is what Palma has to offer.
Sóller
Famous for its orange groves, it is one of the most beautiful inland towns to see in Mallorca. The most romantic way to reach this city is to board the old wooden train that departs from Palma and crosses the landscapes of the Sierra de Tramuntana. In addition to admiring the beautiful valley of the oranges, we advise you to walk the narrow streets of the center where palaces and stately homes such as the Posada de Can Prohom and Can Prunera mix, until you reach the Plaza de la Constitución, the nerve center of the city. From here you can take the old electric tram that will take you to the picturesque Puerto de Sóller, where you can eat excellent fresh fish in one of its restaurants.
Cap de Formentor
Some of the most spectacular landscapes to visit in Mallorca can be found in Cap de Formentor, on the Formentor peninsula, the northernmost point of Mallorca. Here cliffs that exceed 300 meters in height and some of the best sunsets on the island will blow your mind. One of the most famous viewpoints is the Tower of Albercutx (Talaia d'Albercutx), an old watchtower that offers a breathtaking view. In this part of the island, you cannot fail to swim in Cala de Formentor, a beach with white sand and crystal clear waters, surrounded by dense pine forests. Go to the end of the peninsula to the Formentor lighthouse (reachable only by Bus 334 which you take from the Cala de Formentor car park between 10 am-5pm), the tallest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands.
Deià
Perched on a mountain in the Serra de Tramuntana and overlooking the Mediterranean, it is one of the most fascinating cities to see in Mallorca. This picturesque town is perfect for enjoying a few moments of tranquility, walking in the surrounding nature and sitting on one of the terraces in the old part. Inside the village, don't forget to visit the cemetery (with a beautiful view of the sea) where several artists who lived in the city in the 60s and 70s are buried, such as the writer Robert Graves.

The beaches of Mallorca with white sand and crystal clear waters have nothing to envy to the Caribbean ones. We leave you below a list of the beaches not to be missed!
Drach Caves
Las Coves del Drach, four large caves located near the city of Porto Cristo. These are caves formed by the erosion of rainwater over millions of years and connected to each other. You can take a tour of the caves of about an hour until you reach Lake Martel, one of the largest underground lakes in the world. A boat trip on the lake and a classical music concert await you here (a real show!). Daily entrances to the caves are limited, so we recommend arriving early in the morning or late afternoon.
Pollença
With its beautiful old town, it is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in the north-east of Mallorca. Lose yourself in the steep streets full of cafes and pastry shops, where they sell the typical ensaimadas, artisan shops and suggestive corners, until you reach the Plaza Mayor, where one of the best markets on the island is set up every Sunday. Climb the 365 steps of "El Calvari" to reach the eighteenth-century church from where you will enjoy fantastic panoramic views. Finally, do not miss the Puerto de Pollença for a refreshing dip or for a good lunch in one of its beach bars or restaurants.
Sierra de Tramuntana & Valldemossa
In 2011, Majorca's stunning Serra de Tramuntana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a mountainous system - almost 90 km long from Andratx in the south-west to Cap de Formentor in the far north. Here you will find a lot of really pretty hamlets and villages, including Valldemossa, the most charming town, the best preserved and also the most touristic. The town was described by Chopin as the most beautiful place in the world. Together with George Sand, they both stayed one winter in a cell of the royal monastery of Cartuja. Valldemossa also hosts the annual Chopin Music Festival. Don't forget to taste the famous local specialty, the "coca de patata".
Sant Elm & Dragonera Islet
This little corner of the north of Mallorca is wonderful. Sant Elm is an old fishing village located in the extreme north-west of the island, with just 400 inhabitants, right in front of the islet of Sa Dragonera and its Natural Park, perfect for hiking lovers.
Andratx
Here is one of the oldest cities on the island, surrounded by a natural environment of great beauty. Its cultural and historical heritage is truly rich. The Church of Santa María, the Town Hall, the Molí de sa Planeta and, above all, the magnificent CCA Andratx Cultural Center. Leaving the village, head towards the fantastic cliffs with small coves, beaches and four islets, among which "Sa Dragonera" stands out, which owes its name to the numerous lizards that inhabit it.

Sunbathe in one of Majorca's many Beaches
In addition to visiting fishing villages, old neighborhoods, hidden caves and sampling its delicious cuisine, Mallorca is a beach lover's paradise with crystal clear waters and white sand. On the island there are over 200 beaches: small hidden coves, equipped white sand beaches, rocky bays with perfect snorkeling bottoms. If you are looking for tranquility, we recommend that you travel in May, June and September, when the weather is good and the island is not as crowded. Here are the beaches not to be missed:
Caló des Moro (South) - One of the most famous and popular coves in Mallorca. A real natural pool set between two rocky cliffs. An hour's drive from Palma de Mallorca, in the municipality of Santanyí, to reach it you have to park for free in the nearby car park and walk for about 10 minutes along a path. This beach does not have any kind of services (this is our favorite beach - pictured above).
Cala S'Almunia (South) - Located a short distance from Caló des Moro (within walking distance). The fishermen's cottages and the small pier have made it one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca. There is no sand but only rocks (don't forget your shoes).
Playa de Es Trenc (South) - Caribbean waters, white sand and views of the Cabrera archipelago make Es Trenc one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca. 4 kilometers long, it offers free areas, nudist areas and equipped areas. You can reach this beach, located 50 minutes by road from Palma, by bus or car, and park in the nearby car park at a daily rate.
Playa de Formentor (North - At the north end of the island and close to the Formentor lighthouse (one of the most beautiful spots to watch the sunset). A long beach, but only a few meters wide, which is more than an hour's drive from Mallorca and has paid parking nearby.
Playa Sa Calobra (North) - Located in the Sierra de Tramontana, at the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis, it is one of the most impressive beaches in Mallorca with cliffs of over 200 meters surrounding it. This beach is not accessible by car, but only by boat or on foot from the port of Sa Calobra with a walk along the cliffs and through a series of tunnels.
Cala Agulla (East) - Declared together with the nearby Cala Moltó and Cala Mesquida Natural Area of Special Interest, it is another of the most popular and fascinating beaches in Mallorca. With more than 500 meters of fine sand, this beach has all the facilities and is perfect for the whole family. For those looking for a bit of tranquility, you can walk to Cala Moltó, a small and beautiful rocky cove. The beach is easily accessible as it has paid parking.
Cala Mondragó (South) - Located in an area declared a Natural Park and a Natural Area of Special Interest for Birds. Cala Mondragó or Cala de sa Font d'en Alís, offers white sand, rocks and turquoise waters ideal for snorkeling, as well as a pine forest and several paths to walk and learn about its wonderful ecosystem. Just 5 minutes walk from this cove is Playa S'Amarador. These two beaches have all the amenities, plus two restaurants and a beach bar. This area, located an hour's drive from Palma, has free parking a few meters from the beach.
Cala Mitjana (East) - Its difficult access and poor signage make it a particularly peaceful place. Located about an hour from Palma, to reach it you have to park near Cala Sa Nau and walk along a path for about 20 minutes. This beach has no services.
Cala Màrmols (South) - A small cove of white sand enclosed between rocky cliffs 20 meters high. To get there, if you don't have a boat, you will have to park in Cap de Ses Salines and walk about 6 kilometers along a path (more or less an hour and a half of walking).
Cala Varques (East) - An uncontaminated beach, devoid of services and surrounded by trees, perfect for lovers of tranquility. This bay also boasts one of the largest underwater cave complexes in Europe. Before leaving this beach, make your way to the natural stone bridge in Es Caló Blanc, perfect for an Instagrammable photo.
Cala Tuent (North) - In the north-western part of the island, this beach is a kind of amphitheater overlooking the sea, in the heart of the Sierra di Tramontana. Accessible by car from Escorca by going down a winding road.
Hiking in the Serra de Tramuntana
This mountain range, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is dotted with villages with stone houses, coves nestled between towering cliffs, terraced crops and peaks that exceed 1000 meters. You will be speechless in front of so much beauty. The possibilities for exploring this area are different: from the simpler routes such as the path to the Ermita de Maristella, to the more demanding ones such as the ascent to Puig des Teix and the famous Via dei Sassi (280 km, in 8 stages). Among its essential elements are the Torrent de Pareis with the famous bay of Calobra, the monastery of Lluc and the town of Valldemossa, described by Chopin as the most beautiful place in the world.
Visit the Mondragó Natural Park
A protected area perfect for bird watchers and famous for two incredible coves: Mondragó Bay and S'Amarador beach.
Go to the Cabrera National Park
A protected area one hour by boat from Mallorca, made up of 2 islands and 15 islets. The island of Cabrera is the largest and most popular island for its coves.

Pollença Festival (August)
Don't miss the large number of musical events and concerts throughout the month of August in the city of Pollença.
Festivals of Sant Sebastià (January 19)
In honor of the patron saint (San Sebastian) of the capital, one of the largest festivals in the city takes place. For two weeks Palma celebrates with cultural activities, sporting events, fun for children and live music.
"Sa Rua" Carnival in Mallorca (February)
The most colorful day of the year has arrived! Take off your costume and join the locals to celebrate the carnival: batucadas, floats and lots of fun.
Balearic Islands Day (March 1st)
This day pays tribute to the Statute of Autonomy signed in 1983.
Fira del Llonguet (April)
The day dedicated to llonguet, the typical Majorcan bread. It is held annually in Es Pill·larí, near Palma.
The Night of San Juan (Nit del Foc) (June 23)
The shortest night of the year is celebrated with a multitude of fireworks and bonfires on the beaches of Palma, until the early hours of the morning.
Festivals of Sant Bartomeu (August)
The towns of Capdepera and Cala Ratjada celebrate their summer festivals with many traditional activities and dances.
Mare de Déu d'Agost and Sant Roc (August)
Puigpunyent hosts its summer festival during the first two weeks of August with live music, children's activities and much more.

For our trip to Mallorca we chose to stay in one of the many villas on the island and we chose Villa Rosa, a splendid villa set on the slopes of the mountains of the Sierra de Tramuntana, in the small mountain village of Galilea, just 25 minutes by car from Palma, the capital of the island. Villa Rosa is the ideal place for those seeking peace and calm, without giving up the proximity of the city. Three bedrooms (for up to six guests), two bathrooms, a well-stocked kitchen, an elegant living room and a large outdoor area that includes a terrace, living area, relaxation area with armchairs and sofa, the legendary Tiki Bar (a perfect corner for a good aperitif), but above all a swimming pool with a jacuzzi with a view that sweeps from the wonderful Sierra de Tramuntana to the sea. Staying in such a place made our holiday in Mallorca truly unforgettable. What did we like the most? The tranquility that can be breathed at any time of day or night. Sipping a good coffee at dawn while waiting for the sun to rise over the woods of the Sierra de Tramontana is priceless.

Ensaimada
A typical dessert that you will find in all the bakeries or pastry shops you will enter. Prepared with water, sugar, eggs and butter, you can enjoy it in the traditional version (without filling) or filled with chocolate, cream, apricot jam, etc.
Arrós Brut
Rice in hot broth served in a clay pot with meat, sausages, vegetables, spices and mushrooms.
Coca de Trampó
A kind of focaccia with a mixture of flour, eggs, water, oil, butter and salt to which red peppers, green peppers, tomatoes and onion, paprika, olive oil and salt are added.
Cocas Dulces de Valldemossa
The sweet version of coca with a base of almond paste, typical of Valldemossa.
Frito Mallorquín
One of the oldest recipes on the island, the traditional fried made with lean pork or lamb, to which are added potatoes, red peppers, chives, peas, garlic, olive oil, fennel and salt.
Lechona Asada a la Mallorquina
Majorcan roast suckling pig, served only for large parties or special occasions.
Tumbet
The dish consisting of local vegetables. Eggplants and potatoes are fried and a sauce made from ripe tomatoes, oil, garlic and salt is added. All of this is presented in an earthen jar.
Caracoles a la Mallorquina
Those who love snails will greatly appreciate this traditional seafood dish. These are also accompanied by potatoes and a broth based on parsley, garlic, fennel, mint and chilli.
Sobrasada
Porc Negre sausage, native pig breed. This sausage is usually spread on the typical black bread or on the famous Mallorcan biscuits, the quelys.
Empanada de Anguilas
A pie filled with eels with parsley, chard, peas and paprika.
Sopa Mallorquina
Majorcan soup with onion, peppers, accompanied by slices of bread.
Cardenal de Lloseta
Another sweet from Majorcan gastronomy, traditional from the town of Lloseta (as the name suggests). It has as ingredients, meringue, cream, sponge cake and cherry liqueur.
Agua de Sóller
A typical Sóller drink made with Orange Juice, Cava and Angel d'Or Local Liqueur.

Mirador Es Colomers, Pollença - This viewpoint is one of the most famous on the island and its popularity is fully justified. It is a must if you visit the Cap de Formentor lighthouse, another beautiful viewpoint.
Sa Foradada, Deià - One of the most beautiful and famous places on the island. Located between Valldemossa and Deià, it offers a beautiful view of the sea on the famous rock with the hole (hence the name Foradada).
Castillo de Santueri, Felanitx - On one of the Felanitx plateaus, this castle stands from which you have a panoramic view of the entire east coast of Majorca.
Mirador Ricardo Roca, Estellencs - A small balcony in the quaint town of Estellencs from which the views are unbeatable.
Mirador La Victoria, Alcúdia - Located 150 meters above sea level, in Alcúdia, this vantage point offers beautiful views over the Bay of Pollença and Cap de Formentor.
Castillo di Bellver, Palma - The round floor plan of Bellver Castle offers 360º views over the entire bay of Palma and the entire surrounding mountainous area.
Talaia d'Albercutx, Pollença - An ancient watchtower located 380 meters high, from which you can admire the Cape of Formentor, the Bay of Pollença, the Sierra del Cavall Bernat and part of the Sierra de Tramuntana.
Santuari de Cura, Randa - From the Santuari de Cura, 548 meters above sea level, you can have beautiful views over the hinterland, up to the bay of Palma. On a completely clear day you can even see Ibiza and Cabrera.
Could we not go hunting for Street Art in Majorca too? Absolutely not! Although there are not many street art works to be found on the island, one of the most beautiful streets is undoubtedly Carrer de Can Tamorer, in the heart of Palma de Majorca, where you can find truly amazing works!
